Wide picture windows and sixty-year-old screens.
The streets behind the Toco Hills shopping center — off LaVista, Merrill, Biltmore and Christmas Lane — were built between about 1952 and 1965 as brick ranches and split-levels. The signature window is a wide picture window in the front room, often a center fixed pane with a double-hung on each side, plus a run of smaller double-hungs down the bedroom wing. Split-levels add a band of high windows over the garage.
Many of the houses are still on their original aluminum or wood frames and original screens. The screens are usually the dirtiest thing on the house, and they come off and get washed on every visit; the aluminum frames oxidize to a white chalk that only pure water lifts without smearing.
Where houses have been expanded or rebuilt in the last ten years, the glass gets taller: two-story rears with sliders and a row of upper casements. Anything above the first floor is done from the ground with a water-fed pole.

The lots are big and the hardwoods were kept, so Toco Hills gets the full Atlanta sequence: pine and oak pollen from late March, tulip-poplar honeydew in June, red-clay splash through the storm months, and a heavy leaf drop in October and November. The long north walls of a ranch stay shaded most of the day and grow the green film on frames and screens faster than the front.
Soft DeKalb water keeps sprinkler spotting mild, but many yards here are irrigated, and the lower two feet of a picture window facing the lawn still collects a haze over a summer. It comes off with a brush and a 0 ppm rinse.
Toco Hills is a walking neighborhood, with a large community that does not drive on Shabbat, and we schedule around that without being asked: Friday afternoons and Saturdays are not visit days here unless you tell us otherwise.

A first visit in Toco Hills usually lines up with a day we are already in the area.
When to schedule in Toco Hills.
May, once the pollen has finished, and November, once the leaves are down, cover most homes here. Ranches with the long north wall in full shade, or with a pool, add a late-summer visit after the storms.

Our exterior system filters water down to 0 ppm, removing the minerals that normally dry into spots. It also removes residue and helps neutralize static charge on the glass, making it harder for pollen, dust, and grime to bind back onto the surface.
Many homes stay noticeably cleaner for around three months. Weather, tree cover, sprinklers, and exposure can affect how long the finish lasts.

After the clean, we can apply a clear nano coating that bonds to the glass. Water beads off instead of drying into spots, and dust and pollen sit on the surface instead of sticking — so the glass stays clear for about 3 months, and the next clean is quicker.
Proof, not promises: in lab testing, coated glass collected about half the dust of bare glass,[1] and coatings like this work best in dry climates like ours.[2] It doesn’t clean itself — it needs cleaning less often.

What to expect on service day.
Can you avoid Friday afternoons and Saturdays?
Yes, and we assume it in Toco Hills unless you tell us otherwise. Mornings Sunday through Thursday are the usual slots here.
Do you clean the picture window from a ladder?
No. Large fixed glass is done with a water-fed pole and a pure-water rinse so it dries without streaks. Ladders go nowhere near the glass.
How often should a Toco Hills ranch be cleaned?
Two visits a year handle most homes here: after the pollen in May and after the leaves in November. Lots under the heaviest canopy, or with a pool, usually go three.
How and when do I pay?
